Golf · 7-iron
Get better at golf,
one swing at a time.
Film two 7-iron swings on your phone. Mastery tells you what your swing is actually doing, picks the one thing worth working on, gives you practice you can do, then measures whether it changed.
Private beta · invitation only · you can delete everything at any time.
- One club
- A 7-iron, so every swing is comparable
- Two videos
- Face-on and down-the-line, filmed on a phone
- One focus
- One thing to work on, until it moves

An example of the format. Every real line says how sure Mastery is — and says so plainly when it can't tell.
How it works
Record. Understand.
Practice. Measure again.
A loop you can run in a single range session — and repeat for as long as you're working on something.
- 01
Record
Two 7-iron swings on your phone — one face-on, one down-the-line. Mastery shows you exactly where to stand the phone before you film.
- 02
Understand
You get what your swing is doing, in plain language, with one thing to work on. If the video can't show something, Mastery says so instead of guessing.
- 03
Practice
One focus, one feel, and a short practice you can do at the range or at home — with a way to tell whether it's working.
- 04
Measure again
Film the same two swings again. Mastery compares them to your own swing, not to a tour player, and tells you whether the thing you worked on actually moved.
What you get
A coach's answer, not a data dump.
Numbers on their own don't make anyone better. Mastery turns what it can measure into one decision you can act on today.
One thing to work on
Not a list of fifteen faults. The single change most likely to help your ball striking right now.
A feel you can take to the range
What the change should feel like in your body — not a technical instruction you can't act on mid-swing.
Practice with a checkpoint
A short drill, how long to do it, and how you'll know it's landing.
Proof it moved
Your next swing is measured against your own last swing. If nothing changed, Mastery says that too.
Built for golf
Everything here is about your golf swing.
Mastery does one thing during the private beta: the 7-iron full swing. Doing one thing well is how we earn the right to do more.
It starts with a 7-iron
The middle of your bag: long enough to show your real motion, short enough that you can control it. One club also means your next swing is comparable to your last.
Two angles, because one lies
Face-on shows sway and head movement. Down-the-line shows posture and swing direction. Neither angle can see everything on its own, so Mastery asks for both.
Filmed on the phone in your pocket
No launch monitor, no sensors, no studio. Stand the phone up, hit two shots, upload. Guidance on distance, height and framing comes first.
It says when it can't tell
Bad light, a clipped backswing, a phone too close — Mastery tells you what it couldn't see and how to reshoot it, instead of inventing a number.
A real example
What one focus looks like.
This is the shape of a real Mastery review, not a mockup of one.
Your focus
Your head moves back as you swing back.
Face-on, your head drifts away from the target during the backswing. That makes the bottom of your swing move around, which is why strike quality comes and goes.
- The feel
- Turn around your back shoulder and keep your nose over the ball.
- The practice
- Ten slow half-swings, then five at full speed. You've got it when you can make three in a row without your head leaving its spot.
- Next
- Film the same two swings again. This focus stays open until the measurement moves.
What Mastery measured
- Head movement, address to topMeasured · 79%
- Bend from the hips at addressMeasured · 74%
- Hip slide in the downswingEstimated · 55%
- Clubface at impactNot visible at this frame rate
The last line matters as much as the first three. Mastery would rather tell you it couldn't see something than make it up.
Trust
Honest about what we can see.
You should be able to tell, at a glance, whether Mastery measured something or is making a judgment call.
Mastery tells you what it knows and what it doesn't
Every line says how sure it is. When a video can't answer a question, you get told — not given a confident-sounding guess.
You're measured against you
Not a tour player, not another golfer, not an average. Progress means your swing changed from your last swing.
Your videos stay private
Recordings are stored privately and are only ever shown back to you. Delete any of it, or all of it, whenever you like.
Coaching, not medical advice
Mastery talks about your golf swing. It doesn't diagnose injuries and it never uses medical language about your body.
One range session is enough to start
Film two 7-iron swings. See what Mastery can tell you.
Face-on and down-the-line, on the phone in your pocket. You'll get one thing to work on, practice to go with it, and a straight answer about how sure we are.
